About Sudslane
Sudslane is a small piece of software for people who run cleaning businesses in the United States. It publishes two free worksheets, one that costs a clean to the hour and one that turns that cost into a flat rate, and it sells a subscription that keeps the customers, the recurring schedule, the crew's hours, the quotes and the invoices on a single record. It is built and run by Ellul Solutions Ltd, which is also the company you pay and the name that appears on the receipt.
Why this site exists
This site exists because most cleaning businesses set a price once, from what the last person charged, and then never work out what the clean actually costs them. Two cleaners for three hours is six paid hours before anyone drives anywhere, and the wage on the payslip is not the cost to the business once the employer's share of payroll tax is on it. The sheets here do that arithmetic in public, for free, because the owner deserves the number whether or not they ever pay us; the subscription exists for the part that is genuinely tedious, which is remembering it next quarter.
Who it is for
The owner or office manager of a US cleaning business who quotes recurring work and pays a crew: maid services, janitorial contractors, and carpet, window, gutter, pressure-washing and post-construction cleaners.
Not the householder or facilities manager hiring a cleaner, not another trade, and not a studio, spa or clinic taking appointments.
What it does not do
- No lead selling: enquiries are read by us and answered by us, and are never sold, rented or passed to anyone.
- No advice on what to charge: the sheets show what a clean costs you and what a margin implies, and the price you quote your customer is your decision, not ours.
- No franchise, licensing or business-formation advice: we do not know your state's rules and we do not pretend to.
- No unsourced comparison: where a page ranks or compares products, every price is read from that vendor's own pricing page on a stated date and recorded in this site's claims ledger, our own product is in the list and labelled as ours, and nothing is called best without saying who it is best for.

What Sudslane Pro keeps
Upgrading turns a worked sheet into the job. The price you calculated is saved against that customer and that address, so next quarter you are not doing the arithmetic again from memory; the visit goes on the recurring board and comes back every fortnight without being retyped; the crew's hours land against the visit; and the invoice carries your business name rather than ours.
