Free cleaning business software, cleaning company software free and cleaning service software free: what a free plan honestly gives a cleaning business, and where every one of them stops

Updated

Every product in this category has something free, and the free things are not the same shape. Some give you a calculator that works in the browser and keeps nothing. Some give you a trial that ends. Some give you a permanent plan capped at a number of customers, visits or users. Those are three different offers and only one of them is free in the sense an owner means: still there in six months, without a card on file. Knowing which one you are being offered before you move a schedule into it is the whole of this page.

The three kinds of free, told apart

A free tool computes and forgets: you type figures in, you get an answer, nothing is stored and nothing expires. A free trial stores everything and then stops, usually at fourteen or thirty days, and it exists so that moving your schedule in becomes the reason you pay. A free tier stores a capped amount forever: so many customers, so many visits, one user. All three are legitimate; what is not legitimate is a trial described as a free plan, and the tell is whether a card is required before you can use it.

What free almost never includes, and why

Two things sit behind the paywall in nearly every product here, and for the same reason. The first is your own branding on a quote or invoice, because an unbranded document carrying the vendor's name is the cheapest advertising they will ever run. The second is anything that sends: email, SMS, card payment. Those cost the vendor money per message or per transaction, so they cannot be given away at zero. If a free plan promises unlimited sending, read what it means by unlimited.

The part that should be free, and usually is not

Arithmetic. Working out what a clean costs you and what to charge for it is a calculation on figures you already own, and there is no per-use cost to the vendor in letting you do it. We publish both sheets free and without an account for exactly that reason: the clean gets priced whether or not you ever sign up, and a business that cannot price is not a business we can help by holding the answer hostage.

Deciding whether to pay

The question is not whether the free plan is generous but whether the thing you would pay for happens often enough to matter. If you quote two houses a month, keep quoting them on a sheet. If you quote two a week and re-quote the old ones every year, the record is worth more than the subscription, and at the cleaning-specific end of the market that subscription is tens of dollars rather than hundreds.

Questions people ask about free cleaning business software

Is there genuinely free cleaning business software?

There are genuinely free tools, including the two sheets on this site. Genuinely free full products that keep your schedule and your customers are rare, because storage, sending and support cost the vendor money every month.

What is the catch with a free plan?

Usually a cap and your branding. The cap is honest if it is published; the branding is how a free plan pays for itself. Neither is a catch if you know about it before you move your work in.

Should I start free and upgrade later?

Yes, if the free plan lets you export. Ask that question first: a free plan you cannot leave is not free, it is a deposit.
